Why (not)?
The more aware we are of who and how we are, the better we are able to make informed choices about our way of being and doing in our personal and professional life.
ESCI 360°
A snapshot of your emotional and social intelligence abilities
ESCI 360° by Korn Ferry Hay Group
The Emotional and Social Competency Inventory ("ESCI") is a 360° feedback tool that allows us to compare our perception of our ability with the perception that others have of our ability. For each of the 12 competencies covered, we can see what is working well, what could be even better, and what to do next to improve.
Why does this matter? According to research by Korn Ferry, emotional and social intelligence is what differentiates the “great” performers from the “good” performers. To perform better starts by acquiring a practical understanding of the 4 pillars of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management.
Self-Awareness
Self-Management includes Achievement Orientation, Adaptability, Emotional Self-Control (Balance), and Positive Outlook
Social Awareness includes Empathy and Organizational Awareness
Relationship Management includes Coach & Mentor, Conflict Management, Influence, Inspirational Leadership, and Teamwork
The 12 competencies are measurable, observable, and learnable by everyone. We can all improve our abilities and positively impact our relationships and performance. As Daniel Goleman says:
"Empathy is the sine qua non of social effectiveness in working life.”

The VIA Survey
What are your signature strengths?
The VIA Survey of Character Strengths
The VIA Survey developed by the VIA Institute on Character is a psychometric tool for measuring those parts of our personality that positively impact our thinking, feeling, will, and behavior. Its primary focus is to highlight what is "right" and "best" about people. To date over 15 million people around the globe have taken the VIA Survey.
Good to know: Studies have shown that leveraging our character strengths - particularly our signature strengths - positively impacts our life and the lives of others. To quote Ryan M. Niemiec, Education Director at VIA:
The 24 universal strengths of character “reflect our personal identity, produce positive outcomes for ourselves and others (e.g., well-being, positive relationships, achievement), and contribute to the collective good.”
Yet, strengths blindness is pervasive and causes us to miss opportunities to apply our strengths. The remedy is strengths awareness and intentional application. The VIA Survey is where to begin.
